Advising Services

The Seventh College Advising Team is available to assist you throughout your academic career.  Please read below for the various ways you can connect with us.

Virtual Advising Center (VAC) - Available 24/7

Contact Seventh College Academic Advisors via “Ask A Question” in the Virtual Advising Center to receive assistance with the following common advising issues:  

  • Course selection and scheduling
  • Understanding degree requirements and academic policies
  • Transferring courses
  • Degree audit reviews and updates
  • Declaring/changing major

You will be notified via UC San Diego email when your questions have been answered. If you prefer to receive text messages, click on “Preferences” to select this option.

Remote Office Hours

Available Starting Fall 2022

Drop in at your convenience during our weekly office hours to meet Seventh College Academic Advisors and ask any academic questions you may have. 

Scheduled Appointments

Starting Week 3, 15-minute pre-scheduled sessions are available in-person and online via Zoom for academic matters that may require more in-depth advising:

  • Academic planning
  • Exploring majors, double majors, and minors
  • Petitions for exceptions to requirements/policies
  • Academic performance concerns
  • Withdrawal

Academic Planning

To develop a long term academic plan with a Seventh College Academic Advisor, please follow the instructions below after successful completion of at least one quarter:

  1. Review plans.ucsd.edu and your degree audit (MyTritonLink)
  2. Use the Degree Planner to create a personalized academic plan
  3. Meet with your department/program advisor to add required major coursework
  4. Schedule an appointment with Seventh College Academic Advising via “Ask A Question” to finalize your plan

Academic Forms and Petitions

Send your completed form or petition (and supporting documentation if applicable) to seventhadvising@ucsd.edu.

If you are petitioning an Alternatives requirement, be sure to include a course description on your Undergraduate Student Petition and attach a syllabus. Please note: petitions to satisfy other degree requirements must be submitted to the relevant academic department or program.
