Meet Your Orientation Leaders

The Seventh College Orientation Leaders (OLs) are excited to welcome you to Seventh College and UC San Diego. OLs come from all academic majors and all around our changing planet, but have one thing in common: they are all excited about being Tritons and want to pass that passion on to new students as they transition to the campus community.

Required Steps for New Student Orientation

Please note the details provided are subject to change as circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic continue to evolve.

Step I: Complete COMPASS

COMPASS pre-orientation is designed to provide students with a broad understanding of Seventh College and UC San Diego. All new students are required to complete COMPASS by July, 29, 2022.

Step II: Register for Orientation

New Student Orientation consists of mandatory virtual and in-person components. Students must register for both a virtual and in-person orientation session via the College Orientation Registration site. When registering, be sure that your sessions do not conflict. Space within each session is limited on a first-come, first-served basis.

Synchronous virtual orientation sessions offer students an opportunity to connect with other new students, meet members of the Orientation Team, and receive valuable information about academic advising and student life at Seventh College. Students must register for one of the following virtual orientation sessions by July 29, 2022:

Monday, September 12, 2022 8:30 - 11:30 AM (PDT); Tuesday, September 13, 2022 12:00 - 3:00 PM (PDT); Wednesday, September 14, 2022 3:00 - 6:00 PM (PDT); Friday, September 16, 2022 3:00 - 6:00 PM (PDT)

NOTE: If you plan to live on campus in Fall 2022, keep your orientation session dates in mind when selecting a move-in date later this summer. We do NOT recommend scheduling move-in on the same day as orientation. If you are a student athlete, please check in with your coach prior to selecting your sessions to avoid conflicts with practice schedules.

Step III: Complete Canvas Modules

Asynchronous orientation modules through Canvas, UC San Diego’s learning management system, will be assigned on September 1, 2022. Modules will include videos and text that build upon the information about Seventh College and UC San Diego presented via COMPASS and prepare students for their synchronous orientation sessions. Modules must be completed before attending synchronous sessions.

Step IV: Attend Orientation

Logistical information including where to park and where to check-in for in-person orientation sessions will be provided via email in late August.
