Seventh College Orientation Employment Opportunities
Seventh College recruits current students to serve in various positions to create a meaningful orientation experience for first-year and transfer students and their families. Often serving as an incoming student's first point of contact, our Orientation Leaders, Senior Orientation Leaders, and Orientation Interns lay the foundation for student success and welcome new students and their families into the Seventh College community while gaining valuable leadership skills.

Seventh College Orientation Leaders (OLs) help to create a great first impression of Seventh College for our new students and their families. Seventh College Orientation Leaders serve as role models for our incoming first-year and transfer students while introducing them to campus and helping them transition into the academic year eager to engage in and contribute to the Seventh College and UC San Diego communities.
Mandatory Dates:
- Spring Training: Spring Quarter, Mondays & Wednesdays 3:15-4:45 PM
- Seventh College Orientation Leader Retreat: Saturday, April 19
- All-Colleges Orientation Day: Sunday, May 18
- Orientation Part I: Enrollment & Academic Planning Webinars: August 4-8 (virtual)
- OL Move-In (on campus): Friday, September 12
- Fall Training: September 13-16
- Orientation Par II: Cultivating Connections & Welcome Week: September 17-26
All dates listed above are TENTATIVE and subject to change.
Orientation Leaders will:
Orientation Leader Training
- Actively participate in all mandatory trainings
- Learn how to clearly explain the Seventh College theme to new students and their families
- Learn how to facilitate meaningful connections with and between students
- Become acquainted with College and University staff, facilities, resources, and opportunities
- Form positive working relationships with all members of the Orientation Team
Leadership
- Lead small group discussions, direct campus tours, facilitate group activities, and effectively manage group dynamics and conflicts
Peer Advising
- Provide information regarding Seventh College degree requirements, including the Synthesis Program
Role Modeling
- Display sensitivity to different cultures and an awareness of multiculturalism, encourage commitment to academic success, and exemplify Seventh College spirit and pride
Programming
- Provide administrative and logistic support such as organizing and stuffing swag bags, as well as assist with set-up and break-down during in-person orientation
- Support the execution and facilitation of select Welcome Week events, including but not limited to UnOlympics
Professionalism
- Demonstrate appropriate relationships with students, families, peers, and staff
- Give new students a positive first impression of Seventh College
Communication
- Communicate effectively and timely with the Senior New Student Programs Specialist, Senior Orientation Team, and fellow Orientation Leaders
